Voices from the 2025 Plenary: “Conversation in the Spirit is a fruitful method”
At the conclusion of the 2025 UISG Plenary Assembly, we gather in this section the testimonies and reflections of several Superiors General on the key themes that animated our days of listening, discernment, and communion.
Through these weekly interviews, we wish to open a space of listening and communion, where the experience of those who, from diverse contexts, walk the synodal path in service of the Gospel and consecrated life in today’s world can truly resonate.
This week, we share the words of Sr. Maria SOAMITEZA, Superior General of the Sisters Disciples of the Sacred Heart, on the importance of Conversation in the Spirit as a synodal and fruitful method.
"I came to this plenary with a spirit of hope.
And Providence did not disappoint me, because I had a very beautiful experience — truly, truly beautiful — which is Conversation in the Spirit.
We lived this experience very intensely at our table, which is number 82, together with the other nine sisters who are there with me.
It is a synodal method, as the Mothers told us, and it is a fruitful method, because at first each one listens to what the Spirit is saying to her, and then she shares it with the other sisters at the table.
I hope that this method can also be implemented in my congregation, because soon we will have our Chapter.
And truly, I am already thinking about how we can apply this method — Conversation in the Spirit — in our congregation, in the work of the Chapter".
