The UISG joyfully welcomes the election of the new Pope
At this important time of transition for the Church, the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) wishes to express, on behalf of all its members – the superiors general throughout the world – its profound joy and sincere gratitude for the election of the new Pope, Leone XIV (Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost), 267° successor of Peter.
We welcome this moment of grace with faith and hope, entrusting his ministry to the Lord, that it may be a sign of renewal, unity and evangelical witness for all humanity.
From 5 to 9 May, we held our General Assembly on the theme ‘Consecrated Life: Hope that Transforms’, and in this time of listening, discernment and communion, we renewed our commitment to live hope as a transforming energy at the heart of the Church and the world. In the same spirit, we assure the new Holy Father of our prayers and support.
As consecrated women, we wish to continue walking together in a synodal Church that is open, inclusive and attentive to the wounds of humanity and creation.
May the Holy Spirit accompany the ministry of the new Pope and strengthen our common desire to be living witnesses of the Gospel.
