Pope Leo XIV to Lead Global Event for Climate Action Highlights support for climate action among 1.2 Billion Catholics

 

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will lead a global event to mark the tenth anniversary of the Laudato Si’ encyclical together with a host of high-level leaders from the realms of civil society, science, and policy. This is anticipated to be Pope Leo XIV’s first major statement on climate change and environmental protection. 

 

The event will highlight the importance of moral leadership on climate from the spiritual leader of one-sixth of the world’s population.

 

Opening event with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV
His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will inaugurate the conference with a celebration of hope for our common home, as Laudato Si’ continues to inspire people who are transforming the world.

 

The opening event will be livestreamed starting at 15.30 CEST on 1 October. Register for the livestream at RaisingHope.earth/Conference.

 

High-level leaders’ event
High-level leaders from the fields of civil society, science, and policy will explore the profound impact of Laudato Si’ and the most effective ways to take action now. A full list of speakers is available at the conference website

About Raising Hope
This event is part of the Raising Hope initiative, a year-long campaign to celebrate integral ecology during the Jubilee Year. The conference is sponsored by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Dicastery for Communication, Caritas Internationalis, International Union of Superiors General, Focolare Movement, CIDSE, Ecclesial Networks Alliance for Integral Ecology, Borgo Laudato Si’, and Laudato Si’ Movement.
