Season of Creation 2026: Living Water
Season of Creation 2026: Living Water
From 1 September to 4 October, the Christian family is invited to live a time of prayer, reflection and action for the care of our common home.
Today, 1 September, the Season of Creation begins, the annual ecumenical celebration that brings together Christians from different traditions to celebrate the gift of creation and renew their commitment to caring for it.
The theme chosen for 2026 is “Living Water”, inspired by the biblical passage Ezekiel 47:1–12, which tells of life-giving water flowing from the Temple, bringing healing to the land and making life flourish.
This year’s symbol, “Immersion in Living Water,” invites us to allow ourselves to be transformed and to enter more deeply into the care of Creation, recognising the connection between environmental protection, justice and the well-being of every person.
Resources for living the Season of Creation
To accompany communities, congregations and all those who wish to take part in this season, a wide range of free resources is available: the 2026 Celebration Guide, the Prayer Card, liturgical materials and suggestions for personal and community activities. Promotional materials and resources are also available in several languages.
The UISG invites religious communities to take part in this journey, choosing moments of prayer, reflection and concrete actions to care for our common home.
