Leadership for Change: A Call to Action from Sisters Supporting Vulnerable Communities

"We, Sisters of UNANIMA and UISG, are convinced of the need for a rights-based and grassroots-inclusive approach to enable a resilient recovery from the pandemic and realize the 2030 Agenda without leaving anyone behind."

2022 UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) Side Event

JULY 7TH, 2022, 1PM EST / 7PM Rome time

Through this event, UNANIMA International and the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) will bring to Member States the distinctive voices of Catholic Sisters – women leaders supporting marginalized communities around the world – with a strong call to action on Sustainable Development Goals 14, 15 and 17, under review at this Forum.

The Earth’s delicate ecosystems, on land and under water, create life and sustain livelihoods for us all. However, extractive industries, pollution and other harmful practices are disrupting the relationship between people and our planet.

This event aims to highlight SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, with a focus on the leadership of women and Catholic Sisters to achieve ecological SDGs 14 and 15, and to inform a forthcoming Call to Action from Sisters to the global development community.
