Vigil for Peace: UISG Welcomes the Invitation of Pope Leo XIV

The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) welcomes the invitation of Pope Leo XIV to take part in the prayer vigil for peace to be held on Saturday, April 11 at 6:00 PM at St. Peter’s Basilica, inviting all sisters and communities to unite in this moment of communion and supplication.

The vigil will be broadcast live by Vatican Media Live and can be followed at this link.

“Let us make heard the cry for peace that rises from the heart!”

This appeal arises in the context of the Urbi et Orbi Message for Easter 2026, delivered by the Holy Father on April 5, in which he recalled that “Easter is a victory: of life over death, of light over darkness, of love over hatred.”

In a world marked by conflict and growing indifference, the Pope pointed to the path of authentic peace, grounded in the transformation of the heart:

“The peace that Jesus gives us is not one that merely silences weapons, but one that touches and transforms each of our hearts! Let us be converted to the peace of Christ!”

Welcoming this invitation, UISG renews its commitment to walk as a sign of hope and reconciliation: in this Easter season, as consecrated women, we continue to pray for communities in areas of conflict, promoting relationships of justice and peace, in the certainty that the Risen One continues to make all things new.
