Global Formation for Women Religious Committed to Human Mobility
Global Formation for Women Religious Committed to Human Mobility
On June 23 and June 24, the SIMI – Scalabrini International Migration Institute – in collaboration with the UISG International Migrants and Refugees Network, launched a new series of training webinars for women religious who work alongside migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, victims of trafficking, and people on the move.
This new series builds upon a journey that began in 2021 and continued with three years of webinars and seminars in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The current path focuses on advanced topics such as project management, advocacy, and fundraising.
In the first webinar, Cecilia Boach – Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Jesuit Refugee Service - JRS - guided participants through the fundamentals of Project Cycle Management. Key topics included:
- The five phases of the project cycle: programming, needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation;
- Clear definition of objectives, results, activities, and indicators;
- The distinction between log frame and theory of change;
- The importance of monitoring and evaluation to ensure effectiveness and learning;
- A focus on accountability toward the people served, not only toward donors;
- Use of practical tools and group reflection moments to apply the concepts learned.
The formation offered women religious concrete tools to assess people’s needs, design coherent interventions, and work in teams with greater awareness and effectiveness.
The collaboration between SIMI and UISG continues to foster a global network of formation, accompanying women religious in their local contexts while keeping an attentive eye on global challenges.
