“You are my hope” – Pope Leo XIV’s Message for the 2025 World Day of the Poor

In this Jubilee Year of grace, Pope Leo XIV calls us to turn our gaze toward the poor as witnesses of a strong and living hope.

His message for the 9th World Day of the Poor, entitled “You are my hope,” is rooted in the words of the Psalm and reminds us that Christian hope does not disappoint, for it rests on God’s faithfulness and is expressed through concrete love for our most vulnerable brothers and sisters.

The UISG, which brings together women’s congregations serving all charisms throughout the world, warmly welcomes this appeal of the Holy Father.

Wherever they live and serve, religious sisters share the lives, sufferings, and hopes of the poor, recognizing in them the face of Christ and the source of a hope that transforms.

In this Jubilee Year, we are invited to rekindle our trust in the God of hope and to bear witness—through charity and justice—to the joy of the Gospel.
