A Cry for Peace from Around the World: Thousands of Sisters in Prayer with UISG
On March 6th, at 3:30 PM Rome time, thousands of sisters gathered online to implore for the gift of peace in a world marked by conflict and violence.
A silent but powerful event crossed geographical and cultural boundaries on the afternoon of March 6th. While Rome experienced its ordinary daily bustle, a global community of consecrated women and participants from around the world met in the virtual space, united by a single, strong desire: to transform the "clamor of a world wounded by war" into a choral prayer.
The initiative, launched by UISG, turned computer screens and mobile devices into a single, ideal chapel, where spiritual communion transcended distances.
The sisters, coming from different continents and cultures, gathered to entrust to the "Prince of Peace" the sufferings of tormented populations, the deep divisions, and the violence that bloodies the planet.
The prayer unfolded through moments of intense participation. A tangible symbol of unity in diversity was the recitation of the Hail Mary in numerous languages, a kaleidoscope of voices that testified to how faith can build bridges. Following this, the hymn of Saint Francis resonated as a personal commitment to "become instruments of peace," while silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament offered an intimate space to entrust humanity's wounds to God.
During the meeting, the Pope's prayer for peace was also embraced, an invitation not to tire of imploring harmony and to tirelessly weave "relationships of fraternity." This reminder served as the backdrop for the entire initiative: true security, it was recalled, is founded not on fear or control, but on mutual trust, solidarity, and dialogue among peoples.
"It was moving to pray together and in different languages towards the same sky. In that moment, we truly experienced that praying together has an extraordinary power: it breaks down walls, unites hearts, and makes God's peace present in our midst," commented one of the participants, expressing the feeling shared by many of those present.
The event concluded with the renewed commitment, by all the people involved, to continue praying and to transform their daily lives into a seed of reconciliation and peace, carrying forward that message of compassion and hope for all victims of war.
