The announcement of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Charles Borromeo

The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Charles Borromeo, are joyfully informing you about the recent election of our Congregation's new Religious Superior and the Board. We are grateful to God for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the members' participation, and providence in this significant process during the General Chapter 2023, held in Syantikara Retreat House, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, last July 14 to August 6, 2023.

The new Religious Superior is Sr. Sofia Gusnia Saragih, who has been serving as the vice general of our Congregation for the past six years. With her, the new Board members are: Sr. Carolina Nuryati, Sr. Rachel Real, and Sr. Yetty Tjong Tek Sie. They have been elected for the next six years term of office; August 06, 2023 – August 05, 2029.

They represent the diversity and richness of the CB sisters’ spirituality, charism, and mission as an International Religious Congregation. We entrust them to the protection of Mary, our Mother, and to the intercession our foundress, Mother Elisabeth Gruyters, with St. Charles Borromeo, our Patron Saint.

We ask for your prayers and support as we begin this new chapter in our history. We also assure you of our prayers and solidarity as we continue serving the Church and the world with joy and fidelity. To follow Christ more closely in the consecrated life, and to share His love with all people, especially the poor and marginalized. May the name of the Lord be blessed in all eternity.
