Myanmar: UISG calls for prayer amid deepening crisis
The situation in Myanmar remains extremely grave. The conflict, which has been wounding the country for years, continues to generate suffering, displacement, and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
In this context, many women religious have stayed at their posts, alongside the poor, the sick, the displaced, and those affected by violence - offering care and closeness where it is needed most.
In recent days we have learned that a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity has been taken in custody by the military. The situation is sensitive. We want to accompany her in prayer, together with all the women religious who continue to work in Myanmar for peace and alongside the most vulnerable.
The UISG invites member congregations and people of goodwill to join in this moment, asking the Spirit for the gifts of peace, wisdom, and strength - for this sister, and for all those who continue to bear witness to the Gospel in a land marked by suffering.
We also pray for the people of Myanmar: that violence may cease, that the dignity and life of every person may be respected, and that a path of dialogue and peace may open.
