Catholic Care for Children Convening in Kenya
Association of Religious Sisters in Kenya (AOSK) and GHR Foundation, in conjunction with the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) are pleased to announce a regional convening of stakeholders of Catholic Care Reforms in in Nairobi, Kenya, from 16th – 18th May 2023.
Episcopal leaders, government representatives and Catholic sisters from Eastern Africa will be represented, in a gathering focused on the Church's care for children and growing efforts to ensure all children grow up in safe, nurturing families. The centerpiece of the convening will be Catholic Care for Children, a sister-led movement to reduce recourse to institutional care and to foster family- and community-based care for children.
The convening will be undre the theme: "Reading the Sings of Times Together: Catholic Care for Children".
"We, Catholic Sisters, driven by the charism of care for children and vulnerable adults, are reading the signs of the times and commit to lead in the way. Together with the Catholic Care for Children movements in East Africa and Sri Lanka we ensure that children are protected and cared for." - states sr. Pasilisa Namikoye, LSOSF, Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya (AOSK) Executive Secretary.
