Synodality & Communal Discernment through an Ignatian Lens
The UISG offers an intensive Ignatian Communal Discernment Immersion, designed for Superiors General and members of General Councils. This initiative is part of the synodality series Discernment in Common and offers a five-day journey dedicated to the practice of communal discernment according to the Ignatian tradition.
During the immersion, participants will be accompanied in a concrete experience that integrates reflection, prayer, practical exercises, and case studies, with particular attention to the application of discernment in leadership and governance processes within congregations.
- Dates: Monday March 23 to Friday March 27
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Location: UISG, Piazza di Ponte Sant’Angelo, 28 – 00186 Rome
- Modality: IN-PERSON ONLY
- Languages: Interpretation available in Italian, French, Spanish, and English
- Target audience: Superiors General and members of General Councils (Participation of at least two members from the same General Council is required, along with availability to attend the entire workshop.)

Objectives of the immersion
- To deepen understanding of discernment in common
- To renew and transform the way General Councils work
- To address concrete questions and challenges experienced in governance processes
- To pray together, practice different methods, and learn from case studies
Speakers
- Fr. Gabriel Côté, SJ, Director of the Service for Discernment in Common at the Ignatian Spirituality Center in Montreal
- Dr. Christina Kheng, theologian and educator from Singapore, engaged in teaching and accompanying religious organizations in processes of communal discernment
