In recent years, women religious in Vietnam have experienced both successes and challenges in their consecrated life. Religious institutes are still enjoying the benefits of the steady increase of vocations from previous decades that allow them to expand their apostolic works. More recently, however, the religious institutes have had difficulty in maintaining their numbers, as many of them are becoming elderly and the number of new vocations has decreased. This is mirrored among the seven hundred thousand sisters globally. Many organizations and foundations around the world have attempted to assist religious institutes in various areas, such as initial and professional training, apostolic work, and care of elderly members.

The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) in collaboration with the Conference of Major Superiors in Vietnam and the International Union of Major Superiors (UISG) in Rome will organize a webinar to discuss the status of religious life around the world as well as in Vietnam, including a review of various international resources on formation and elderly care that could help with the situation in Vietnam.
