In 2026, the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Ingolstadt celebrates 750 years of life under the theme “A light that crosses the centuries.” This jubilee is, above all, a grateful remembrance and a renewed commitment to a mission that continues to generate life.
Its origins date back to 1276 in Ingolstadt (Germany), when two young women, Diemuth Trailacher and Margareth von Puch, chose to live the Gospel concretely through the care of the poor and the sick. From this evangelical intuition emerged a path marked by compassion, closeness, and service, which over time developed within Franciscan spirituality and took on different forms according to the needs of each context.

Across the centuries — through moments of trial and new beginnings — the Congregation has continually renewed its presence: from contemplative life to educational ministry and missionary expansion beyond Europe. Since 1938 in Brazil and, more recently, in Angola, the Sisters continue to witness to the Gospel through education, social outreach, and pastoral ministry.

Celebrating this anniversary means recognizing a living charism, sustained by the Spirit, capable of renewing itself over time. It is also an invitation for the whole charismatic family to look to the past with gratitude, live the present with passion, and embrace the future with hope.

Faithful to their charism, the Franciscan Sisters of Ingolstadt continue to follow Jesus Christ, poor, crucified, and merciful, as sisters to all, sowing hope and promoting life wherever they are called.
