Hundreds of children walked alongside teachers, young mothers, religious sisters, government officials, and members of the local community, carrying banners with a single message. They were not asking for privileges; they were asking for what should be guaranteed to every child: clean water, education, protection, and the opportunity to build their own future.

Behind this initiative are the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI), an apostolic congregation founded in India in 1984. Today, their mission extends across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific. Since 2003, the DMI Sisters have been present in Tanzania, where they share the daily lives of the most vulnerable communities in collaboration with the local dioceses. Their mission goes far beyond providing immediate assistance: it seeks to create opportunities so that people can become protagonists of their own development.

The march through the streets of Kibaha perfectly reflected their missionary spirit. Students walked alongside young mothers, teachers, and civil and religious authorities. It was not simply a public event, but a visible sign of a community embracing its shared responsibility to care for its children.

Throughout the day, some of the most pressing challenges affecting children were highlighted: child marriage, adolescent pregnancy, gender inequality, access to clean water and sanitation, and the importance of quality education. Yet the most powerful voices were those of the children themselves. Through traditional dances, songs, and theatrical performances, they transformed their culture into a language of awareness and hope, giving voice to the realities they face and the future they dream of building.

One of the most moving moments of the day was the recognition given to fifteen girls for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, discipline, and commitment to school life. It was a simple yet deeply meaningful ceremony. Investing in a girl's education means sowing hope for an entire family, a whole community, and future generations.

It is in gestures like these that the deepest meaning of the DMI Sisters' mission is revealed. Its true impact can be seen in the smile of a girl who receives recognition and discovers that her dreams matter. It is reflected in the renewed confidence of a young mother who begins to believe that a different future is possible. It grows whenever a community understands that protecting children is not the responsibility of a few, but a shared mission.
