The Assumption: The Destiny of Those Who Choose Life

The Assumption: The Destiny of Those Who Choose Life

On the Solemnity of the Assumption, we celebrate Mary, who was taken body and soul into heaven, revealing the destiny God desires for all who choose life. As Pope Leo XIV reminds us, “when in this life we ‘choose life’ (Dt 30:19), we are right to see in Mary, assumed into heaven, our own destiny.”

In a world marked by war, injustice, loneliness, displacement, and environmental crisis, Mary’s Assumption is an example of hope.
She calls us to holiness, steadfast faith, and perseverance, trusting that God’s promise of resurrection is stronger than every cry of suffering and despair.

Prayer:

Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, our living Hope.
As we journey through this season of grace, remain close to us with a mother's love.

Be our comfort in moments of sorrow, our strength in times of uncertainty, and our light whenever the darkness of this world seems overwhelming.
Remind us that your Son has conquered sin and death, and that through His redeeming love every heart is invited into new life.

Blessed Mother, assumed into heavenly glory, Queen of Peace, our Lady of the Immaculate Heart, remain with us always.
Lead us ever closer to your Son, Jesus Christ, and pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
