On the eve of the 100th World Mission Day, to be celebrated on October 18, 2026, UISG invites women religious and communities worldwide to read and reflect upon the Message of Pope Leo XIV, “One in Christ, united in mission.”

One hundred years since the institution of the Day, the Holy Father invites the entire Church to rekindle the fire of the missionary vocation, recalling that mission is born from communion with Christ and is expressed in the ability to walk and collaborate together.

Being united in the mission, the Pope emphasizes, does not mean uniformity. It means recognizing diversity as a richness and letting different charisms, cultures, and vocations converge into a single mission: making Christ’s love visible.

This invitation particularly challenges religious life, which is called to witness to communion through the richness of its charisms and its presence in the most diverse contexts across the world.

On this hundredth Day, the Message offers us a question to dwell upon: how can we be today, in our communities and congregations, more united in Christ and more united in the mission?

As women religious, we know that mission is never a solitary work. It is born from the encounter with Christ, grows in communion among sisters, and opens up to the encounter with every people and culture. In the peripheries as in the centers, in large congregations as in the smallest communities, each one bears a fragment of the one Gospel and contributes to making the face of the Church more luminous.

On this hundredth World Mission Day, we entrust the journey ahead of us to the Lord. May the Spirit accompany us - the Spirit that unites what is diverse without erasing its beauty - so that our life, shared and given away, may become a credible sign of Christ’s love for the world.
