Answering Pope Leo’s Nonviolent Appeal
Answering Pope Leo’s Nonviolent Appeal
On 25 June 2026, from 9:00 to 13:00, the seminar “Answering Pope Leo’s Nonviolent Appeal” will take place at the Regina Mundi Conference Room of the UISG.
The event, organized by Pax Christi International, responds to Pope Leo’s call:
“Nonviolence as a method and a style, must distinguish our decisions, our relationships and our actions.”
(30 May 2025)
Three international experts will explore how nonviolent methods offer effective alternatives to armed force, strengthen democracy, and build peace:
- Kathleen Gallagher Cunningham — Choosing Nonviolence: A Strategic Perspective
- Jonathan Pinckney — People Power and Democratic Promise: What Nonviolence Builds
- Cécile Dubernet — Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP): A Key for Societal Robustness in Crisis Times
The seminar is free of charge and will be held in English. Future seminars may also be offered in Spanish, French, and Italian.
