President Sr Barron on the Marathon of Prayer: Each prayer is a beacon of hope for the victims
UISG President Sr Marry Barron greets the participants of today’s online Marathon of Prayer promoted together with The Union of Superiors General (USG). She calls for a collective commitment in order to fight for a greater awareness of, but also to end the scourge of human trafficking on our world.
This is her message of hope and encouragement:
"Dear sisters and brothers in Christ.
It is with a heart full of hope and solidarity that I welcome you to this online marathon of prayer against human trafficking as President of the International Union of Superiors General, the UISG. I'm deeply moved by the collective spirit of compassion and justice that brings us together today inspired by this special year in the Church.
Our theme for this year is “Ambassadors of Hope: Together Against Human Trafficking” and today's online Marathon of Prayer is part of our week-long pilgrimage of hope as we continue to fight for a greater awareness of, and for an end to this scourge of human trafficking on our world.
Human trafficking continues to be a grave violation of human dignity, a modern-day slavery that affects millions of our brothers and sisters around the world. It is a scourge that demands our unwavering commitment to prayer action and advocacy.
Today we unite our voices and hearts in a powerful chorus of prayer asking for God's grace and strength to combat this evil and our prayers today are not just words. They are also a call to action. They are a testament to our faith in a God who hears the cries of the oppressed and empowers us to be instruments of God's love and justice.
Let us remember that each prayer we offer is a beacon of hope for those trapped in the darkness of exploitation as we embark on this Marathon of Prayer let us continue to be inspired by the resilience and the courage of survivors and let us be steadfast in our commitment to creating a world where every person can live in freedom and in dignity.
Together we can make a difference. Together we can be a light that dispels the darkness. Thank you for joining us in this sacred mission. May our prayers today ignite a global movement of compassion and justice and may we continue to walk in solidarity with all those who suffer from human trafficking- May God bless us all and may our prayers bear lasting fruit."
