Sisters’ Anti-Trafficking Awards (SATAs) 2025
Faith and Leadership United to End Violence
The third annual Sisters’ Anti-Trafficking Awards (SATAs) will be held on November 21 in Lusaka, Zambia. The event will honor the remarkable leadership of Catholic sisters committed to combating human trafficking, a scourge that continues to affect millions of people worldwide.
This year, the theme of the SATAs are “Faith and Leadership United: Together to End Violence,” highlighting the power of faith, collaboration, and courage in the fight against all forms of exploitation.
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. (CAT) with a social gathering and musical entertainment, followed by the official program from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
An International Gathering for the Defense of Human Dignity
The ceremony will bring together international speakers specializing in women’s leadership and global cooperation against trafficking.
It will be held on the eve of the G20 summit in South Africa (November 22–23) and a few days before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25) — a significant context that underscores the urgency of a renewed global commitment.
2025 Awards Ceremony
During the evening, three persons will be awarded. Three key figures in the fight against trafficking will give the prize to the awardees:
- Common Good Award, presented by Ian Sweet, CEO of the Arise Foundation
- Servant Leadership Award, presented by Sr. Mary John Kudiyiruppil, SSpS, Vice Executive Secretary of the UISG
- Human Dignity Award, presented by Sr. Jane Wakahiu, LSOSF, Ph.D., Associate Vice President, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation
The stories and impact of the awardees — the sisters working on the front lines in their respective contexts — will be presented in short documentaries before their speeches.
The Sisters’ Mission: Faith, Action, and Community Engagement
For decades, Catholic sisters have been working to prevent trafficking, support victims, and advocate for justice. Their close presence in communities allows them to offer a unique, rooted, and coordinated response to this complex global crime.
The SATAs are jointly organized by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Arise Foundation, and the UISG, a partnership that aims to support the sisters and amplify their voices in support of dignity and freedom.
