Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate: 150 Years of History and Fraternity
This year, the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate celebrate the 150th anniversary of their foundation, begun by the Venerable Servant of God Francisca Pascual Doménech.
On February 27, 1876, the Archbishop of Valencia, Mariano Benito Barrio Fernández, approved the Constitutions, marking the beginning of the common life of the congregation and its educational and protective mission, especially in service of children, young people, and those in vulnerable situations.
The opening Eucharist of the jubilee will be celebrated on February 21, 2026, in Moncada, in the chapel of the Spirituality Center where the remains of the foundress rest.
On September 29, 2020, Pope Francis declared Mother Francisca Venerable, confirming the strength and relevance of her witness.
Today the congregation is present in thirteen countries across Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, and renews its commitment to keep the dream of its foundress alive: building fraternity.
On the part of UISG, we join in thanksgiving for this anniversary and accompany the sisters with our prayer.
