International “Francis of Assisi and Carlo Acutis” Award: Applications Now Open for an Economy of Fraternity

 

The International Union of Superiors General is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the International “Francis of Assisi and Carlo Acutis Award for an Economy of Fraternity”, promoted by the Diocesan Foundation of the Sanctuary of the Spogliazione of the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino (Italy).

 

Inspired by the Gospel vision of universal fraternity, the Award seeks to support grassroots, generative economic initiatives, especially in contexts of great vulnerability, with a particular focus on young people under the age of 35.

 

What the Award includes

 

  • A public recognition during the official Award Ceremony held annually in Assisi, in the month of May
  • A financial contribution of up to €50,000, to be used exclusively for the implementation of the winning project
  • The symbolic “Mantle of Francis”, a sign of renunciation and gift, designed by Brunello Cucinelli
  • An icon of the Award, featuring Saint Francis and Blessed Carlo Acutis

 

Who can apply

 

  • Individuals, organizations, associations, and social or entrepreneurial entities from anywhere in the world
  • Applications are especially encouraged from economically disadvantaged regions, where people work together for the good of their communities

 

Project requirements

 

  • Projects must originate from fraternal and generative economic processes
  • They must have been started within the last five years
  • They must comply with the Evaluation Grid criteria, available on the official Award website
