Conclusion d’un mandat : Réflexions et gratitude de Sœur Pat Murray

 

 

Alors qu’elle achève son service en tant que Secrétaire exécutive de l’UISG, Sœur Pat Murray I.B.M.V., revient sur plus de onze années dédiées à l’accompagnement et au soutien de la vie consacrée. Dans ce message, elle exprime sa gratitude envers les nombreuses et nombreux leaders, collaboratrices, collaborateurs et partenaires rencontrés au fil de ce chemin, et met en lumière quelques-unes des étapes marquantes de cette période de croissance et de transformation pour l’UISG.

 

 

"Ce fut pour moi un grand privilège et une immense joie de servir la vie consacrée comme Secrétaire exécutive de l’UISG pendant plus de onze ans. Durant ce temps, j’ai rencontré tant de supérieures générales et de leaders de congrégations lors d’assemblées et de réunions, en présentiel comme en ligne. Je vous suis profondément reconnaissante pour votre leadership exceptionnel et pour le soutien que vous avez apporté à l’UISG.

Je suis profondément reconnaissante à celles qui ont servi au sein du Conseil d’administration de l’UISG ou comme déléguées représentant ses 36 constellations. Je tiens à remercier tout particulièrement les Présidentes – Sœur Carmel Sammut S.M.N.D.A., Sœur Jolanta Kafka C.M.S., Sœur Nadia Coppa A.S.C. et Sœur Mary Barron N.D.A. – avec qui j’ai travaillé en étroite collaboration et qui m’ont apporté un merveilleux soutien.

 


Cette décennie a été marquée par le changement et la transformation, et même si les défis et les situations difficiles n'ont pas manqué, il y a beaucoup à célébrer. En tant que femmes consacrées, nous avons également dû faire face à notre vulnérabilité et à notre fragilité. Cette expérience nous a profondément rapprochées des femmes et des hommes de notre temps.


Parmi les moments significatifs de ces années, je me souviens des paroles du pape François lors des Assemblées de l’UISG et durant l’Année de la vie consacrée, nous invitant à « réveiller le monde » et à quitter nos lieux sûrs pour aller vers les périphéries, tant géographiques qu’existentielles.


L’UISG a répondu en lançant, durant son Jubilé de 2015, une initiative inter-congrégationnelle en Sicile pour accompagner les personnes migrantes et réfugiées et pour bâtir des ponts entre les populations locales et celles qui arrivent en Europe.


Dans le même esprit, l’UISG a intensifié ses efforts pour venir en aide aux personnes victimes de traite et d’exploitation à travers le réseau Talitha Kum. Le pape François a qualifié la traite de « fléau » et de « violation très grave des droits humains fondamentaux ». Talitha Kum s’est considérablement renforcé et compte aujourd’hui 64 réseaux présents dans 108 pays, rassemblant environ 840 congrégations religieuses.


Une autre avancée majeure a été le lancement en 2019 de Sowing Hope for the Planet, qui a renforcé l'engagement des sœurs dans la protection de la création. Nombre d’entre elles sont désormais animatrices Laudato Si' et partagent leurs ressources, leurs projets et leurs initiatives concrètes sur le site web de Sowing Hope for the Planet.


Une autre initiative, Catholic Care for Children International collabore avec des congrégations dans plusieurs pays pour réduire le recours aux institutions et garantir à chaque enfant de grandir dans un environnement familial sûr et bienveillant.


Au fil des années, les programmes de formation pour les supérieures générales, les membres de conseils généraux et les membres de congrégations se sont beaucoup développés. Les rencontres se tiennent à Rome, dans d’autres centres à travers le monde, et de plus en plus en ligne grâce aux nouvelles capacités technologiques. Ces échanges ont nourri un sentiment grandissant d’appartenance à une sororité mondiale, prêtes à répondre ensemble aux besoins contemporains et à se soutenir mutuellement dans les moments difficiles. De nombreux thèmes ont été abordés, avec une attention particulière à la formation au leadership, à l’interculturalité, à la spiritualité et à la synodalité.


Le Programme annuel de préparation des formatrices, qui en est maintenant à sa septième édition, a été très apprécié. Chaque année, environ 45 sœurs y participent, s’engagent dans un processus de transformation intérieure, accompagnées par divers intervenants, mentors et directeurs, et tissent des liens d’amitié.


Toutes ces initiatives n’auraient pas été possibles sans le dévouement et les talents de l’équipe de l’UISG – sœurs, laïques et laïcs. Certaines dirigent directement ces initiatives, tandis que d’autres assurent le soutien administratif, financier, technique, de communication et de secrétariat.

 


En conclusion, je souhaite remercier vous, membres de l’UISG, pour votre participation, votre soutien et vos encouragements au cours de ces onze dernières années. J’exprime aussi ma gratitude à toutes celles et ceux qui collaborent avec l’UISG : le personnel des dicastères du Vatican, les organisations et fondations catholiques internationales, les ambassades auprès du Saint-Siège, les universités, ainsi que toutes celles et ceux qui suivent l’UISG via ses réseaux sociaux.

Je sais que l’UISG poursuivra sa route avec force et vitalité sous la conduite du nouveau Conseil et de la nouvelle Secrétaire exécutive, Sœur Roxanne Schares.

 


Le pape Léon XIV nous encourage « à être missionnaires, ouvrant nos bras au monde et proclamant l’amour de Dieu ». Il nous rappelle l’importance de l’unité, du dialogue et de la charité, nous invitant à bâtir des ponts et à être un ferment d’harmonie pour l’humanité.

Que l’UISG continue à soutenir la vie consacrée dans ce chemin, et que nous puissions prier les un(e)s pour les autres.”

Dear Pat, a huge thank you and embrace to your for your generous and committed ministry as Executive Secretary to UISG for these eleven years and more! It was my privilege and delight to meet you last May in Rome at the meetings of leaders. I had heard of you and saw you at the different zoom meetings and presentations and was very impressed with your leadership. Of course I know how you so care-fully and attentively helped Elizabeth during the Synod and especially in her last illness.
