Compassion and Hope: Governments, civil society, and the future of migration in our common home
The global initiative Refugiados & Migrantes en Nuestra Casa Común (OCH) is organizing an International Symposium on Migration, which will take place at the Universidad de La Laguna, Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), from 11 to 14 June 2026, in a key context shaped by migration routes to Europe.
Organized by Villanova University through the Mother Cabrini Institute on Immigration, the gathering will bring together for three days researchers, policymakers, religious organizations, civil society, and migrants, fostering an inclusive dialogue that integrates academic research, field experience, and direct testimonies.
The symposium, which coincides with the pastoral visit of Pope Leo XIV, adopts a participatory approach featuring field visits, working groups, and brief presentations (lightning talks), aimed at developing concrete Action Plans in the areas of formation, research, advocacy, and service.

- Civil society and the future of migration governance
