From June 22 to 25, 2025, the Sisters of Mercy of Newfoundland held their 23rd General Chapter. The chosen theme, “Mercying in Hope: Presence, Compassion, Mission ~ Misericordiando en Esperanza: Presencia, Compasión, Misión,” inspired and grounded the days of the Chapter, offering a deep moment of discernment, spiritual renewal, and recommitment to mission.

At the conclusion of the Chapter, a new Leadership Team was elected to guide the Congregation for the next four years. Elected are:

• Sister Diane Smyth, Congregational Leader
• Sister Elizabeth Marrie
• Sister Eileen Penney
• Sister Verna Aucoin

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Sister Charlotte Fitzpatrick and Sister Betty Morrissey, who served generously on the previous team.
