International Congress: AI and Medicine the Challenge of Human Dignity
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents one of the greatest opportunities for improving health and healthcare delivery. At the same time, it poses significant risks to the human relationship between doctor and patient. In this rapidly evolving context, it is essential that the Church serve as a bridge between technology and culture, in order to protect and promote the dignity of the human person.
From November 10 to 12, 2025, the International Congress "AI and Medicine: The Challenge of Human Dignity" will take place in Rome, at the Augustinianum Institute. The event is promoted by the Pontifical Academy for Life (PAV), the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FIAMC), and the European Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FEAMC).
The congress will bring together experts in bioethics, medicine, technology, and theology from around the world to reflect together on the implications of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine, with particular focus on the respect for human dignity.
Topics to be addressed include:
- The impact of AI on clinical decision-making and medical education
- Artificial intelligence and personalized medicine
- Ethical and legal challenges related to the use of AI
- The need for an "algor-ethical" approach to innovation
- The contribution of the Christian faith to a person-centered approach to medicine
The program will include thematic sessions, round tables with young medical professionals, and contributions from experts across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. The congress will conclude with an Audience with the Holy Father.
