Conclusión de un mandato: Reflexiones y gratitud de la Hna. Pat Murray

 

 

Al concluir su servicio como Secretaria Ejecutiva de la UISG, la Hna. Pat Murray ibvm reflexiona sobre más de once años dedicados a apoyar y acompañar la vida consagrada. En este mensaje, expresa su gratitud por los numerosos líderes, colaboradores y socios que ha encontrado en el camino, y destaca algunas de las etapas clave que han marcado este periodo de crecimiento y transformación para la UISG.

 


Ha sido un gran privilegio y una enorme alegría para mí haber servido a la vida consagrada como Secretaria Ejecutiva de la UISG durante más de once años. A lo largo de este tiempo, he tenido la oportunidad de conocer a muchas superioras generales y responsables congregacionales en asambleas y encuentros, tanto presenciales como en línea. Estoy profundamente agradecida a todas vosotras por vuestro extraordinario liderazgo y por el constante apoyo a la UISG.


Mi agradecimiento se dirige especialmente a quienes han formado parte del consejo directivo de la UISG o han actuado como delegadas en representación de sus 36 constelaciones. Un agradecimiento muy especial a las presidentas: Hna. Carmel Sammut msola, Hna. Jolanta Kafka cms, Hna. Nadia Coppa asc y Hna. Mary Barron ola, con quienes trabajé estrechamente y que fueron un apoyo inestimable.

 


Esta década ha sido un tiempo de cambio y transformación, y aunque no han faltado los retos ni los contextos difíciles, hay mucho que celebrar. Como mujeres consagradas, también hemos tenido que afrontar nuestra propia vulnerabilidad y fragilidad. Esta experiencia nos ha situado, de manera muy profunda, junto a las mujeres y los hombres de nuestro tiempo.


Entre los momentos más significativos de estos años, recuerdo las ocasiones en que el Papa Francisco se dirigió a nosotras en las Asambleas de la UISG y durante el Año de la Vida Consagrada. En esos momentos nos animó a despertar al mundo y a abandonar nuestros lugares de seguridad para salir hacia las periferias, tanto geográficas como existenciales.


La UISG respondió a este llamamiento creando, durante su Año Jubilar en 2015, una iniciativa intercongregacional en Sicilia para acompañar a personas migrantes y refugiadas, y tender puentes entre las comunidades locales y quienes llegaban a Europa.
En esta misma línea, la UISG intensificó su compromiso con las víctimas de la trata de seres humanos y la explotación, a través de la red Talitha Kum. El Papa Francisco ha descrito la trata como “una plaga” y “una gravísima violación de los derechos humanos fundamentales”. Talitha Kum ha experimentado un gran crecimiento y actualmente cuenta con 64 redes activas en 108 países, en las que participan unas 840 congregaciones religiosas.


Otra etapa importante fue el lanzamiento de Sowing Hope for the Planet en 2019, que reforzó el compromiso de las hermanas con el cuidado de la creación. Muchas de ellas actúan hoy como animadoras Laudato Si’ y comparten sus recursos, planes e iniciativas prácticas a través de la web del proyecto.


Otra iniciativa relevante es Catholic Care for Children International, que trabaja con congregaciones en varios países con el objetivo de reducir la dependencia del cuidado institucional y garantizar que cada niño y niña pueda crecer en un entorno familiar seguro y acogedor.


A lo largo de los años, hemos asistido a una notable expansión de los programas de formación dirigidos a superioras generales, miembros de consejos generales y otros miembros congregacionales. Estos encuentros tienen lugar en Roma, en distintos centros de todo el mundo, y cada vez con más frecuencia en formato online, gracias a la mejora de nuestras capacidades tecnológicas. Estos espacios han fortalecido el sentimiento de una hermandad global, que colabora unida para responder a las necesidades actuales y se apoya mutuamente en tiempos y situaciones complejas. Se han tratado numerosos temas, con especial atención a la formación en liderazgo, la interculturalidad, la espiritualidad y la sinodalidad.


El programa anual de formación para formadoras, que ha llegado ya a su séptima edición, ha sido muy valorado. Cada año, unas 45 hermanas participan en un proceso de transformación interior, guiadas por distintas personas ponentes, mentoras y acompañantes, y forjan lazos de amistad duraderos.


Todas estas iniciativas no serían posibles sin la dedicación y el talento del equipo de la UISG: religiosas y laicos, tanto mujeres como hombres. Algunas lideran directamente estas iniciativas, mientras que otras ofrecen apoyo en tareas de secretaría, finanzas, administración, comunicación y asistencia técnica.

 


Al terminar esta etapa, deseo dar las gracias a todas vosotros, miembros de la UISG, por vuestra participación, vuestro apoyo y vuestro aliento durante estos once años. También quiero expresar mi gratitud a todas las personas e instituciones que colaboran con la UISG: los equipos de los dicasterios vaticanos, las organizaciones y fundaciones católicas internacionales, las embajadas ante la Santa Sede, las universidades, y todas aquellas personas que siguen a la UISG a través de sus redes sociales.

Confío plenamente en que la UISG seguirá creciendo y fortaleciéndose bajo la dirección del nuevo Consejo Directivo y de la nueva Secretaria Ejecutiva, la Hna. Roxanne Schares.

 


El Papa León XIV nos anima a ser misioneros, abrir los brazos al mundo y proclamar el amor de Dios. Nos recuerda la importancia de la unidad, el diálogo y la caridad, y nos exhorta a construir puentes y ser fermento de armonía para la humanidad.

Que la UISG continúe acompañando a la vida consagrada en este camino, y que sigamos rezando los unos por los otros.

Dear Pat, a huge thank you and embrace to your for your generous and committed ministry as Executive Secretary to UISG for these eleven years and more! It was my privilege and delight to meet you last May in Rome at the meetings of leaders. I had heard of you and saw you at the different zoom meetings and presentations and was very impressed with your leadership. Of course I know how you so care-fully and attentively helped Elizabeth during the Synod and especially in her last illness.
