Talitha Kum International Coordination Committee Meeting

Talitha Kum International Coordination Committee Meeting

The week of 22 to 26 May, the Talitha Kum international coordination committee meeting (TKICC) annual meeting was held in Rome to present and celebrate the new team, which will last from 2023 to 2026.

The theme of the meeting:  “Journeying Together” - A Call for a Creative Transformation”.  The purpose: “to remember the past with gratitude, to live the present with enthusiasm and to look forward to the future with confidence” (Saint John Paul II in Jubilee celebration).

We asked the coordinators of the Talitha Kum networks present at the meeting what are the fruits of their gathering.

"The fruits of the meeting were very important for us - we were not only having a meeting in person, but also we could really tackle the issues in our network. We were able to share ot only the good practices, but also challenges. Everything was on the table, we were really able to discuss how to deepen and strenghten our networking at the grassroot level." - shared sr. Abby Avellino, mm, Talitha Kum International Coordinator

Sr. Colleen Jackson, RSC, Talitha Kum Oceania says: "I think we have to reframe what we do in a light of Pope Francis' call to care for our common home and to protect the dignity of all people - and one of the biggest injustices and indignities is to be exploited and trafficked. We have a real place to find new ways and new expressions of being together"

"It is really nice to her about other sisters' reality and their struggles, as we all want the same thing: to end human trafficking. It is a big challenge." - reflects Sr. IsaBelle Couillard, SGM, coordinator of Talitha Kum in North America

"It is astonishing how the dynamic os Talitha Kum as a network has changed from 2014 (when I attended my first meeting when I heard of Talitha Kum) (...) and how for example the artificial intelligence is a struggle now in relation to human trafficking - it's something that was not present before." - reflects the coordinator of Talitha Kum Europe, sr. Adina Balan, CJ.
