25 Years of the Apostolic Letter Sacramentorum Sanctitatis Tutela: A Workshop at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross

The event will take place on Thursday, 12 November 2026, beginning at 2:30 p.m., in the “John Paul II” Aula Magna at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
Twenty-five years after the promulgation of the Apostolic Letter, the workshop will provide an opportunity for in-depth reflection and discussion on the development of canon law and the challenges the Church continues to face in matters of accountability, transparency and communication.

The programme will feature two main sessions:

  • Legal Panel (2:45 p.m.): Presentations by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, Monsignor Robert W. Oliver and Fr. Robert J. Geisinger, SJ, who have served or are serving as Promoters of Justice at the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.
  • Communication Panel (5:00 p.m.): Featuring Terrence Donilon, Nicole Winfield, J.D. Flynn and Yago de la Cierva, who will explore the role of communication, information and crisis management in the Church.

Organized by the Faculties of Communication and Canon Law of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, in collaboration with Notre Dame Law School, this initiative represents a valuable opportunity for formation and professional development, particularly for religious women involved in congregational leadership, formation, safeguarding and communication.
