UISG STRUCTURES
The organizational structures created to support and facilitate the mission of
UISG have changed radically over the almost forty years of its existence. In many
ways, these changes reflect broader changes in the character and living of
apostolic religious life. In particular, the role of superior general has evolved in
ways that have influenced the organization and operation of UISG.
A vivid example of this has been the fact that superiors general of international
congregations are asked to travel throughout the world. This results in a
frequent absence from Rome for many of them. Therefore, relying on the
presence of UISG members to be in Rome is not possible. This affects the process
of decision making and alters the role of the President and the Executive
Committee. The statutes of UISG have gone through several major changes to
reflect the lived reality of superiors general and to provide a stable organization
of UISG.
The list to the left will take you to brief descriptions of the structural elements
and the role descriptions of UISG staff.
