UISG AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

The UISG evolved from being an organization having only the life of women religious as its concern to being involved in consultation and policy making with a number of international organizations. There are many international groups at which the UISG sits as a member, is in a governing role or is involved with by representation. Listed below are the groups with which UISG has a working relationship.

WUCWO - World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations
This union's aim is to promote the presence, participation and co-responsibility of
Catholic women in Church and society in order to enable them to fulfill their mission of evangelization and to work for human development. UISG is represented by Sr. Geraldine MacCarthy, SHCJ.

KAIRE
This is an inter-confessional cell of persons engaged in monastic, diaconal or active call in their Church and world.

WCRP - World Council of Religions for Peace
A worldwide coalition of multi-religious councils, this group is committed to peace. Sr. Rita Burley is Co- President of the International Governing Board and also a member of the newly formed European Religious Leaders Council.

WCC - World Council of Churches
This international organization has the specific purpose of mission and evangelization through interreligious dialogue. Sr. Catherine Moran, MSSC is a consultant.

SEDOS - Documentation and Research Center
SEDOS is built on several groups working for research, the Working Group on China, the Working Group on Debt, the Working Group on Bible, etc. Religious congregations form the membership. The UISG representative is Sr.Jacinta Schoenmakers, JMJ.

MULTIMEDIA INTERNATIONAL
Religious help religious to use the media more effectively in the mission of
evangelization. The UISG representative is the General Secretary, Sr. Victoria Gz. de Castejón.
