ASSEMBLY OF THE UNION
The Assembly of the Union is a body of discernment, deliberation, decision and action and as such:
is responsible for the legislation of the Union; is at the service of communion and is a vehicle of communication; is an agent of collaboration, exchange and mutual support.
The Assembly of the Union is composed of the members of the Executive Committee and the Delegates elected in and by the Constellations.
The Assembly meets twice during the three year term in between Plenary Meetings. With the agreement of the Executive Committee, the President may call an Extraordinary Assembly. The presence of two thirds of the membership is required for the validity of its session. The two-thirds majority vote of members present is required for any change in the operating guidelines for UISG. An absolute majority vote is required for the validity of other decisions. One of the main responsibilities of the Assembly is to elect the President and the Executive Council. This election will take place during the Assembly of the Union, 2004 which will follow the Plenary Meeting.
