| The International Congress for Young Women and Men Religious, Vidimus Dominum, was held in Rome in October, 1997
This event, sponsorfed by the UISG and the USG gathered 830 young men and women religious from five continents and 80 coutnries. The participants lisened and explored at the level of belief and articulated their hopes for a shared vision of a common vocation and mission. The theme, "We Have Seen the Lord" set the agenda for the main speakers and inspired both the prayer and liturgical events during the meeting. The conferences were intended to animate small group sharing and reflection. The Congress was created to be in continuity with the Synod on Consecrated Life. It sought to foster hope and to awaken resolution among young religious worldwide in response to Vita Consecrata. The Presidents of UISG and USG urged young religious of the new Millenium to be audacious in dreaming and enlfeshing dreams which enhance the coming of the Kingdom.
