MAY 31, 1969 - VISIT BY POPE PAUL VI

Pope Paul VI's visit and blessing of the present building and that of Regina Mundi was more than a symbolic gesture. Given the rare occasions on which such visits would happen, this was a public affirmation of the roleand the status of UISG and of the Pontifical Institute of Regina Mundi.

This visit came at a time of great upheaval in religious life and was experienced as both support and confirmation that the renewal was to continue. The Pope's approval of UISG was also seen as a confirmation that the renewal to which religious were called by Vatican II was to continue to evolve.
